Why Commune Exists
The public good
argument.
We wrote down the things we believed before we poured a single concrete floor. These are still the walls the building stands on.
The Belief
Musicians deserve infrastructure.
Startups get incubators. Scientists get labs. Writers get residencies. Musicians get told to practice in a storage unit. Commune is the correction — a civic resource built for people who make sound for a living.
The Problem
Isolation kills the work.
Your best song has never been written alone in an apartment at 11pm while worrying about the upstairs neighbor. Proximity to other people doing the same hard thing changes what's possible. We built a building around that fact.
The Fix
A musical address.
Not a rehearsal studio you book by the hour and forget. Not a coworking space with a guitar on the wall. A place where you have a locker, a community, and the reasonable expectation that you'll run into a horn player at the coffee station.
The Infrastructure
Everything a working
musician needs.

Proof of life,
not a brand shoot.
These are real members. The photos were taken on phones. The quotes are slightly edited for length, not for feeling.

Marisol Reyes
Singer-songwriter
I wrote three songs in my first two weeks here that I'd been circling for two years in my apartment. Something about knowing there's a drummer three doors down changes the math.

I needed a lockout room that didn't smell like a flood happened once. I got that, plus I ended up collaborating with a cellist I met at the coffee station. That track is now on 40k streams.

Session guitarist
The gear library alone pays for my membership. I've borrowed a ribbon mic, a Wurlitzer, and a baritone guitar this month. Things I'd never buy but absolutely needed.

I was doing late-night sessions in my bathroom for the reverb. Now I have a production suite with actual acoustic treatment and neighbors who send voice memos instead of noise complaints.
